This prickly pear margarita offers a unique take on the classic cocktail. Prickly pear juice adds fruitiness and colour making the beverage incredibly refreshing for a hot day.
To rim the glass, spread salt on a saucer. Wet the rim by sliding a lime wedge around it. Dip the wet rim into the salt.
Add tequila, prickly pear juice, water, lime juice and agave nectar to a cocktail shaker (a glass fitted with another glass on top works as replacement). Add a few ice cubes, close and shake until combined and chilled through (20-30 seconds).
Add a few ice cubes to the prepared rimmed glass. Strain the mixed prickly pear margarita into the glass.
Add a slice of lime and/or prickly pear on the side of the glass.
Frozen Prickly Pear Margarita
Making frozen margarita works best when making 2-4 servings at a time.
Add all ingredients to a blender together with 1-1.5 cups of ice per serving. Blend until the ice is crushed and all ingredients are combined into a slushy texture.
Notes
2 ounces equals about 1 shot glass / ¼ cup / 4 tablespoons*If you have or have made prickly pear syrup, you can use 2-3 oz. of that instead of the juice and agave syrup
