For Father's Day - as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® - I put together a Superhero Care Package. All opinions are 100% my own. #cbias
I absolutely attribute my love for cakes and passion for baking to my mom. Not only did she make awesome birthday cakes for us when we where little, but it was also a Saturday tradition to bake sweet treats for Sunday and the following week. She got us started to help with the Saturday baking early on - so early that I cannot even recall my first baking experience. I just feel like I have been baking my whole life already 🙂
My 'snacking love' however, I totally have from my dad. I don't really recall seeing my mom eating outside of meal times or rummaging through the pantry for a treat. My dad on the other hand, loves his snacks. Especially at night time when he watches TV you can see or hear him in the kitchen looking for a midnight snack.
So when I saw this free printable on Alpha Mom for a Superhero Care Package, I knew it would be perfect as a Father's Day gift for my dad. I could repackage some of his favorite treats and put a humorous label on them to make him smile as he enjoys his snacks.
My dad definitely is one of the heroes in my life. Growing up as a child I thought there was nothing my dad couldn't do. We had a neighbor who my dad would help out often with handyman-type of work. This neighbor would always ask us kids "What can your dad do?" And we were always supposed to answer with "Anything!"
And it really seems true to this day. If you can think it, my dad will know or find a way to build it. So for all the hard work he does, he definitely deserves his hero snacks.
I headed over to our local Walmart to get the supplies needed for my homemade Father's Day gift.
The labels in the printable are fairly generic, so it was easy to match them with my dad's favorites. And for a care package for your Superhero you can just as easily replace his favorite flavors.
Aside from the snacks you will need:
- a box
- clear cellophane bags
- labels (download them for free here)
- scissors
- glue or adhesive paper (I like photo mounting squares)
Once you have your labels cut out, it is easy to apply the mounting squares and then just pull off the backing when you are ready to adhere the label.
I had a really fun time finding snacks that my dad likes and that would fit the labels well - like the pastel colored mint drops for the "X-Ray Vision Drops" label or some fruit gummies that actually contain vitamin C for the "Hero Vitamin Pellets".
(I do wish though, there would have been more choices for glass soda bottles. I picked the cute coke bottle because nothing else was available - and because coke from the glass bottle is so much more awesome - but it was a little too small for the label to fit properly.)
I have my Superhero Care Package nicely packed and boxed. Now I am just waiting for Father's Day to come to show my dad my love and appreciation for all the things he is and does.
