Olivia and I are in Kelowna at the moment to visit my family here and enjoy the beautiful warm weather this place has to offer.
Being with my family, especially with my baby seems to make everyone a little bit nostalgic. My sisters and I remember our childhood, my parents have flashbacks to us as babies and doing the same things Olivia is right now.
It's good and fun times. And it also makes me realize how much I and my priorities have changed.
As a teenager I paid a lot of attention to appearance, almost kept track of what I wore when last, and spent a lot of my money on new clothes.
Nowadays, I really don't enjoy buying clothes for myself. It is so much more fun buying outfits for Olivia and absolutely stress-free. They all will fit (eventually - unless I buy them too short) and without a doubt, she'll look adorable in everything.
When it comes to myself, I rather treat myself to new kitchen gadgets and tools. Those makes my heart beat faster these days. But there are also trusted old favorites that I've come to love.
These are my favorite items that I wouldn't want to miss in my kitchen anymore:
Food Processor
Back in my cake decorating days, I couldn't live without my stand mixer. But just the other day I realized that I hadn't touched it in months. These days my food processor has taken the place of most used small appliance.
I use it for everything from making nut butters, healthy ice cream, shredding vegetables, and even to mix quick doughs and batters.
Quality Kitchen Knives
For our wedding Konrad and I received a set of high-quality kitchen knives from Germany. We soon realized that this was probably our most practical gift.
I absolutely fell in love with how they made food prep such a breeze, and I started to feel sorry whenever we visited households that didn't have awesome sharp knives.
Saute Pan
A great saute pan can quickly turn into the most used cooking tool. While I love the variety of pots and pans we have, the saute pan just seems most versatile.
Searing, frying, stewing, braising - it can all be done in this one trusty sauce pan.
