This Healthy Fruit Dip is a delicious way to have protein with your fruit snacks. It is perfect for school lunches as well as a party appetizer.
This school year I've had to start making school lunches for someone that wasn't me for the first time. Until then my daughter's preschool was providing food for the kids, but suddenly the ball was in my court.
There are pretty strict rules which are basically in line with clean eating - so that wasn't actually a challenge for me.
My biggest struggle is finding the creativity and mindspace every morning to put together something healthy and delicious that my daughter will eat.
And she is actually a very good and adventurous eater. So the main issue is that I am not a morning person and don't want to be cooking or thinking about what makes a balanced meal first thing in the morning.
Easy Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip - Meal Prep
I don't know why, but it didn't even dawn on me until two months in that I could be meal prepping her lunches!
Now, I spend some time every Sunday cooking/preparing one main item that can last for 4 or 5 lunches. And also cutting up/setting aside snacks like fruits, veggies, cheese, etc. My weekday mornings have become a lot more relaxed since!
This easy fruit dip with Greek yogurt is one of the things that is super easy to stir up. And I know she has so much fun dipping it for her lunch snack.
If it is really just the snack a small 2-tablespoon sized portion is enough. But if the Greek yogurt fruit dip is the main protein in that lunch box I send along more - usually around a ¼ cup portion.
Martin's Apple Chips
And you know what's even better than simply cutting up fruit to send along with the healthy dip? NOT having to cut up fruit at all.
Martin's Apple Chips make it possible!
They are are a delicious healthy and convenient snack choice. The one and only ingredient are apples that are grown on a Canadian (Waterloo, Ontario) family farm.
So I can feel good about sending this effortless snack along for lunch, it complies with the school guidelines, and most importantly my daughter LOVES Martin's Apple Chips.
And no wonder - what's not to love about their naturally sweet and truly crispy awesomeness!
Martin’s Apple Chips are available across the Canada. Find the convenient snack size at Starbucks, the bulk size (perfect for holiday parties) at Costco, and various sizes at other retailers like Sobeys, Winners, Bulk Barn, Farm Boy and more.
Clean Eating Fruit Dip Ingredients
To keep with the clean and healthy apple chips, the fruit dipping sauce is just as wholesome. The main ingredient is Greek yogurt to provide a source of filling protein with your snack.
I used plain and simple yogurt without any thickeners or other additives (learn how to make homemade Greek yogurt HERE). And to sweeten the homemade fruit dip naturally I chose maple syrup, but honey would work just as well.
I also added almond butter for yummy nutty flavor, fiber and even more protein. You could just as well switch it out to make peanut butter fruit dip instead.
And finally a touch of vanilla extract and a very generous pinch of cinnamon to round out the flavors of this healthy yogurt fruit dip.
And healthy lunch meal prep certainly isn't the only way you can use this recipe. Especially for the upcoming holidays it is also perfect as a fruit platter dip - just double up on the recipe.
It will certainly please a crowd as much as my little munchkin.

Dipping fruits in lemon juice helps prevent browning due to enzymatic browning, preserving the fruit's appearance and freshness. Lemon juice's acidic nature acts as a barrier against the oxidation process.
