Get the awesome taste of a cocktail in this nutritious Strawberry Margarita Breakfast Smoothie that is rich in vitamins, protein and fiber!
Did you have your share of chocolate for the month on Valentine's Day? I know I have. However, it was all enjoyed, and with people I love. It has been so much fun covering different recipes over this year's Valentine's Day "season." Thank you for your comments and for following along; I hope you enjoyed yourself whatever it is you did!
As such, now we are on the other side of this holiday, the following smoothie is perfect to start to the day with a healthy breakfast that tastes of summer, cocktails and the beach. Mmmm... Beach...
Full of Fruits and Delicious Nutrients!
The strawberry margarita flavor in this smoothie comes from the juice of half a lime (or 1 key lime), half an orange, and frozen strawberries. However, these three fruits not only make the great flavor of this smoothie, they are also packed with antioxidants and vitamins (Vitamin C especially), and they turn this smoothie into an immune-booster at the same time. If you also have a family, you can relate when I say that I will do most anything to stay healthy.
I am a huge fan of tart, citrus flavors, so I only added one tablespoon of honey as sweetener. You can always add more honey to taste if the citrus kick is too strong for you or if you prefer sweeter smoothies in general.
In addition, this breakfast smoothie is also a great source of protein and fiber due to the greek yogurt and oats in it. The oats make the smoothie thick and creamy. Quick or instant oats will easily blend into a smooth consistency. Plus, they are a hearty, natural foodsource.
After my Green Pina Colada Smoothie, this is already my second cocktail-flavored smoothie. Which other cocktail flavors would you like to see converted into a delicious smoothie? Let me know! For now, enjoy this delicious recipe!
Strawberry Margarita Breakfast Smoothie
- ½ lime or 1 key lime, juiced
- ½ orange
- 1 tablespoon honey more to taste
- ½ cup greek yogurt
- ⅓ cup quick oats or instant
- ½ cup strawberries frozen
- Place the ingredients in a blender or food processor in the order they are listed above and blend until completely smooth. Layering from liquid to frozen makes for easier blending.
- Serve right away. Leftovers can be frozen to make breakfast popsicles.

Jacquee @ I Sugar Coat It!
Margaritas for breakfast - totally acceptable in my books!! One just won't do - it's Friday, after all. 😉
It will have to be a virgin or breakfast variety for me - but I am all for double Margaritas this weekend!!
This looks really good! I'm thinking I have to try it, then maybe save some for after work and add some tequila. I know you're pregant though, so when I get round to this I'll tell you if it works.
Haha, do let me know if you try it Janine. It sounds a little weird with the oats and yogurt in this smoothie. But who know, sometimes those are the best things 🙂
