Get the awesome taste of a cocktail in this nutritious Strawberry Margarita Breakfast Smoothie, that is rich in vitamins, protein and fiber.
Did you have your share of chocolate for the month on Valentine’s Day? This smoothie is perfect to start the day with a healthier breakfast that tastes of summer, cocktails and the beach.
The strawberry margarita flavor in this smoothie comes from the juice of half a lime (or 1 key lime), 1/2 orange and frozen strawberries. However, these three fruits not only make the great flavor of this smoothie, they are also packed with antioxidants and vitamins, Vitamin C especially, and turn this smoothie into an immune-booster at the same time.
I am a huge fan of tart citrus flavors, so I only added one tablespoon of honey as sweetener. You can always add more honey to taste if the citrus-kick is too strong for you or you prefer sweeter smoothies in general.
In addition, this breakfast smoothie is also a great source of protein and fiber due to the Greek yogurt and oats in it. The oats make the smoothie thick and creamy. Quick or instant oats will easily blend into a smooth consistency.
After my Green Pina Colada Smoothie this is already my second cocktail-flavored smoothie. Which other cocktail flavors would you like to see converted into a delicious smoothie?
- ½ lime (or 1 key lime), juiced
- ½ orange
- 1 tablespoon honey, more to taste
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- ⅓ cup quick or instant oats
- ½ cup frozen strawberries
