When you're always cooking, you realize how much of a chore it is to puree, blend, chop, and whisk up ingredients. For one, you're most likely going to need separate appliances or kitchen gadgets - blending is done with a blender, whisking with a whisk, chopping with a knife, and so on.
While most of us are used to this, we can always make our lives easier and save a little bit of time (and probably space) with multi-use gadgets that can do it all - or at least serve more than one purpose. That's exactly what I was thinking when I tried out the Immersion Blender from Mealthy. If you’ve been curious about this hand blender's performance, features, or potential downsides, keep on reading.

You really can make a lot of dishes with the Mealthy Handblend blender. The recipe book alone shows you how to make 17 dishes. It contains recipes for soups, sauces, smoothies, ice cream, and so much more. There are even recipes that allow you to combine the usage of your Mealthy devices - like the Immersion Blender, Mealthy Multipot, and SpiraSlicer.
Remember that buying this stick blender will also get you access to the Mealthy Recipe App so you can make even more smoothies, soups, sauces, and other dishes that involve blending or whisking. On the website as well, you will find more recipes you can easily follow. Here are a couple recipes from the site that stand out to me:
- Cream of Mushroom Soup
- Blueberry Spirulina Smoothie Bowl
- Chai Latte Breakfast Smoothie
Of course you can use the HandBlend in all the recipes here on Leelalicious that call for an immersion blender. Here are my personal favorites:
Personally, I love the convenience of using a stick blender in cooked soup and sauce recipes that require blending or puréeing. Instead of precariously transferring hot contents from a pot to a blender jar, and back, and then having to clean both, I can use the HandBlend right inside the pot I am cooking in. And there is only a small attachment part to be cleaned afterwards.
It works equally well for making cream soups that require all ingredients to be thoroughly puréed, or to slightly thicken up a vegetable soup (without using cornstarch or heavy cream) by blending just a small part in short bursts.
With help of the cup you can also make any of my smoothie recipes.
The chopper bowl is great for homemade pestos.
And the whisk attachment can whip up anything from batters to coconut whipped cream.
Perfect Travel Companion
The HandBlend is perfect to take along on trips where you are self-catering. You never know how (well or badly) equipped a rented kitchen will be. This small and compact immersion blender set can replace many bulky kitchen appliances that you are used to on a daily basis.
I took it along when we spend last winter at an apartment by the beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. And it ended up temporarily replacing my food processor, electric mixer, and blender. I used it almost daily for things like making banana nice cream for my daughter, blending soups and sauces, and the whisk for cake batters and Dalgona coffee, once quarantine hit us.
Bang for Your Buck
The immersion blender feels robust. It has a stainless steel body built to be durable. The chopper bowl and smoothie cup with cover are plastic but they are 100% BPA-free.
You can even put the bowl, cup, and whisk in the dishwasher. As for the cord, it is long enough for you to use at a distance from a power outlet.
Price & Where to Buy the HandBlend
With all of the features mentioned and the quality of this hand blender, you might be surprised to know that it only costs $34.95. If you're in the US, you also get free shipping.

Points of Improvement
I've already listed a lot of benefits of the Mealthy stick blender, but there are also a couple of downsides.
The chopper bowl should only be used in completely upright position. I've seen other immersion blenders with chopper attachment, where the user turns the unit sideways (horizontal) while blending to move the contents away from the sides and ensure everything gets blended. When I tried doing the same with the HandBlend chopper, I realized that the lid doesn't fit tight enough and liquids leak out.
Although the blender gives you 11 varying speed settings, I find that the difference between the high and low settings is not very significant.
After having used this immersion blender set for a year, and pretty intensely in the last 6 months, I now notice that the logo on the stainless steel blender body itself and the measurement marking on the smoothie cup are starting to come off. And I only ever hand washed the cup. So I doubt the print would last very long at all, if the smoothie cup were to be washed in the dishwasher.
Pros
- A beautiful immersion blender for < $50
- Included accessories (smoothie cup, chopping bowl, whisk)
- Speeds up common cooking tasks like blending, whisking or chopping
- Recipe resources
- 1-year limited warranty
- Free shipping
- Sleek and modern design (I love the combination of stainless steel and blue lights around the buttons)
- The buttons are also easy to access and press when you want to change speeds or go on Turbo Mode
- Dishwasher safe cup, chopping bowl, and whisk
- Can replace several bulky kitchen small appliances
Cons
- Chopper bowl leaks if not used upright
- Little difference between speed settings
- Measurement marking on the smoothie cup come off after some time
As you can see, these are only minor complaints about this immersion type blender. Overall, it does its job and makes my cooking easier and faster.
