So many of holiday memories revolve around food and baking especially. All the cookie baking sessions first with my mom, then my aunt and grandma, and later with school friends, when we would bake for the yearly Christmas bazar.
Nowadays, I try to create similar memories for my daughter and her friends during the holiday season. Among the kids I am starting to be known as the lady who puts on the cookie decorating parties.
This list of Christmas dessert recipes includes classic ones my childhood in Germany (Lebkuchen, macaroon & roasted spiced almonds), my husband's from South America (Alfajores cookies + dulce de leche roll), and traditional North American holiday desserts we've come to love; plus some healthier (gluten/grain free) twists on the classics.
